Year In Review 2022

Year in review 2022

Survival

Like many other non-profit service organizations, 2020 through 2021 proved to be two of our most challenging years. As the pandemic raged on, we had to pivot in midair to continue to provide service to the individuals with disabilities that we served. With strict social distancing guidelines in place, we had to come up with creative ways so that our members continued to receive critical care.

Many masks, bottles of hand sanitizer and thermometers later, we’ve just now had enough time to breathe and reflect on what we’ve been able to accomplish as an organization. Through it all, our devotion to our individuals with disabilities stayed top of mind.

Thriving

As the dust continues to settle coming off the height of the worst of the pandemic, we reflect on the many wins we’ve had at KenCCID

  1. Sustained Medical Care

We had no lapse in our ability to provide medical care to members of the KenCCID community. Despite a national nursing staffing shortage, KenCCID was able to continue to support the physical well-being of our community members.

  1. Recognition & Awards to Our KenCCID Staff Members

Two of our devoted staff members were recognized by the City of Philadelphia for the Points of Transformation Awards – Nurse Hawa Sarnor and Stacey Cain. The Points of Transformation Awards ceremony is hosted by the Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services (DBHIDS). The awards ceremony shines the spotlight on dedicated professionals who help people with intellectual disabilities and/or autism gain independence in the communities where they live and work.

  1. Ongoing Job Support for our KenCCID Members

We were able to secure jobs for four individuals with disabilities within our community. We would like to thank the following companies for continuing to partner with KenCCID to provide jobs to our members:

In addition, five of our KenCCID community members were able to retain their jobs, despite the severe job loss that resulted from the pandemic. In fact, one of our members, Mr. Wenig has held his job for over 5 years now at the same employer.

Resilience

These wins could not have been realized without the tireless commitment of our KenCCID staff. We remain indebted to their commitment to outstanding service.

These wins also point to the resilience of our community. From the outside, disabilities may be considered a hindrance to living a full life. At KenCCID, supporting disabilities is what unites us in a common mission.

At KenCCID, even though challenges may come our way, our focus remains on our mission: to promote dignity and choice to empower Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities reach their full potential.

Consider making a donation to KenCCID today to ensure we continue winning for individuals with disabilities.

With just $5 you can give an individual with a disability the opportunity to visit a coffee shop and engage with their local community.

$25 takes them to a museum to deepen their appreciation of the arts.

For $50, they get to cheer on our very own Phillies!
