In our previous post, we introduced the idea of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the potential impact to persons with disabilities.
Today, we’ll discuss some of the positive impacts that AI has already made to persons with disabilities.
Assistive technologies are designed to help persons with disabilities get around independently.
The French company Evelity has designed a mobile app catered to multiple types of disabilities including:
- Visually impaired and blind
- Hearing impaired and deaf
- With reduced mobility and/or uses a wheelchair
- With a cognitive disability
The app puts the user first.
Evelity learns the unique needs of each user and offers navigation solutions based on their inputs.
This is a great example of how AI has been used to develop assistive technologies that support the needs of individuals with disabilities.
