We Rocked The Runway!!

Rock the Runway event

In June 2018, six KenCCID Individuals participated in the annual Rock the Runway. The City of Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services’ event spotlights models with intellectual disAbilities walking the runway at Community Behavioral Health.

Rock the Runway has been organized to generate awareness and promote inclusion. By participating in the show individuals are given opportunities to socialize, develop friendships, and stay active in the community.

KenCCID employee Cornelius Eaddy shares his experience:

“Dignity clothed with equality accompanied by empowerment took center stage at this year’s IDS Fashion Show. A crowd of over 200 eager with anticipation lined both sides of the illuminated runway while sounds of music filled the air. Representing KenCCID was six badder-than-bad individuals dressed to a ‘T’. From evening wear to cool casuals the 2-hour event did not disappoint. Individuals from different agencies proudly strutted their stuff making it a special moment for all who attended.

As Earth, Wind & Fire’s That’s the way of the world filled our souls, one could only hope that this moment of triumph would one day be the norm.”
