Joseph Harris attended a field trip to the zoo over the summer. He went to the Philadelphia Zoo located at 3400 W Girard Avenue. Phila. Pa. 19104
Joseph Harris attended the zoo because staff noticed that Joseph has a great affection for animals, especially dogs, after visiting a dog shelter and volunteering to walk dogs; staff therefore thought it would be a great idea to take Joseph on a field trip to the Philadelphia Zoo.
While at the zoo Joseph walked through with staff to explore the many different animals at the zoo. Joseph was also able to see the Channel 6 Hot-Air Balloon that hovers over the Philadelphia Zoo although he didn’t ride in it.
Though there was no animal that stood out the most, Joseph did enjoy getting to see various species of animals including the mammals and amphibians. The mammals included the giraffe, hippopotamus, zebra and gazelle. The amphibians he saw were the African bullfrog, Panamanian frog and Oriental fire-belly toad. Joe’s eyes seemed to light up when he saw the different colored amphibians, especially the Panamanian Gold Frog.
The best thing about the day at the Philadelphia Zoo was seeing how excited Joe became when he saw the animals. He also enjoyed lunch together with staff at the zoo as well as Rita’s Water Ice.
