I started my tenure at KenCCID 13 years ago as a supervisor. After working many years in various fields. I was looking for a career change and KenCCID was recommended. It sounded like a place I would be able to use my various skills to enhance the lives of our consumers, but instead it enhanced mine. I have grown in my knowledge of the field and became educated in the various challenges that our consumers face. Thanks to KenCCID for the many opportunities and benefits they have offered me during the past years. I find that many consumers in spite of the challenges that they face, they have resilience, and compassion for others. Our consumers always look forward to you coming to work most times and make you feel needed. For many of our consumers, we are the only family that they know. So the sense of kinship is real.
I have worked in quite a lot of KenCCID Individual houses and have worked with many of our consumers during this time. I can truly say I have enjoyed working at KenCCID with the consumers that I’ve met and most of the employees. I’ve learned that no matter what the Task and they can be challenging, my fellow employees are a great support system to help you get through those times. I’ve even had a chance to work some years ago with Office personnel, and got to see how dedicated they are to the consumers as well. What agency can you go to that the office personnel know every consumer by name and sight; welcome them in their offices, know their personalities and know how to redirect them? KenCCID is AWESOME!
I have got to love all the opportunities, benefits and the support system that KenCCID offers to employees that is why my being here for 13 years is just like a year to me because I loved it here.
So I’M looking forward to seeing what the next few years bring and I’m sure there will be AWESOME AS WELL!!
