Essential Services Update

KenCCID is a 501(C) 3 non-profit charitable organization providing services for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities to have independence, self-sufficiency and self-reliance; utilizing staff and community resources to enrich and enhance our individuals’ quality of life.

Our employees support these individuals 24 hours per day, seven days a week and ensure their health and welfare. Since this care and service cannot be interrupted, even during the current pandemic, as well as during severe weather and other emergent conditions our organization requires essential employees to make every reasonable effort to come to work by way of their usual means of transportation.

In Governor Wolf’s guidance for businesses on March 16, 2020, he defined healthcare and human services facilities such as KenCCID as essential:

“Essential services and sectors include but are not limited to food processing, agriculture, industrial manufacturing, feed mills, construction, trash collection, grocery and household goods (including convenience stores), home repair/hardware and auto repair, pharmacy and other medical facilities, biomedical and healthcare, post offices and shipping outlets, insurance, banks, gas stations, laundromats, veterinary clinics and pet stores, warehousing, storage, and distribution, public transportation, and hotel and commercial lodging.

Although these businesses may remain open, the Wolf Administration continues to encourage them to employ social distancing practices, and encourages citizens to be thoughtful in their visits.”
