Direct Support Professionals Are the Real MVPs: Vivian Dalieh’s Story of Vigilance & Compassion

For more than 50 years, KenCCID has remained committed to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through compassion, advocacy, and person-centered care. Today, we are incredibly proud to celebrate one of our own team members whose dedication is now being recognized across Pennsylvania.

Congratulations to Vivian Dalieh, KenCCID 2025 DSP of the Year Honoree, for being featured in the Pennsylvania Advocacy and Resources for Autism and Intellectual Disability (PAR) May 2026 DSP Spotlight.

Vivian’s story has received praise and recognition from both legislators and the PAR organization for demonstrating the true impact Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) have in the lives of the individuals they serve every single day.

According to PAR, Vivian embodies “extraordinary vigilance and dedication.”

After completing an overnight shift, Vivian sensed something was wrong during a phone call involving one of the group homes she supports. Trusting her instincts, she returned to the site, discovered a concerning situation, and remained on-site for an additional full-day shift to ensure the individuals’ safety and well-being until proper coverage arrived.

Her actions prevented potential harm and reflected the very heart of KenCCID’s I.C.A.R.E. values:

  • Impact
  • Compassion
  • Accountability
  • Respect
  • Empowerment

PAR described Vivian best:

“Vivian Dalieh didn’t just do her job — she lived her calling.”

Direct Support Professionals are often the quiet heroes behind the scenes — advocates, caregivers, mentors, protectors, and trusted support systems for individuals and families throughout our communities. Vivian’s story is a powerful reminder of the life-changing difference DSPs make every single day.

We also want to thank everyone who helped nominate Vivian and supported sharing her story. This recognition shines a light not only on Vivian’s dedication, but on the incredible work being done by DSPs throughout KenCCID and across Pennsylvania.

Advocating for Individuals & Families Across Pennsylvania

KenCCID is also proud to support PAR’s statewide advocacy efforts to ensure legislators and community leaders hear directly from individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, and their families about the importance of funding critical support services.

PAR recently launched a campaign encouraging individuals and families to share short videos explaining why these services — and the DSPs who provide them — are so important.
